Outreach Team
As a museum tour guide, I updated existing school programs to meet Indiana's Academic Standards for Science and created new programs for school groups of varying ages and sizes. I then led these tours for museum visitors, including groups of school children, and assisted in the development and delivery of spring break camp programming for children in 3rd-6th grade. As a senior member of the outreach team, I aided in the design and implementation of a new certification system for museum tour guides and hosts. I also developed and coordinated “Under the Spotlight” ticketed tours for adults and VIP visitors, including the college's president and members of his cabinet, integraing aspects of the exhibit hall and biological collections.
Fabrication Lab
As a member of the fabrication lab, I assisted in the maintenance and updating of existing exhibits and the provision of custom materials for programs and tours in the museum. As a team leader, I directed a team of seven undergraduate students through the process of researching, designing, and constructing six new pieces of interpretive signage featuring original, scientifically accurate graphics and a central connecting theme for a Pleistocene Mammals exhibit. Throughout this multi-year project, I coordinated inter-team logistics involving review processes, weekly check-in meetings, construction, and movement of specimens as well as managed the scheduling, budgeting, and ordering of exhibit materials for construction.
